Hybrid Vehicle Services
Everyday maintenance and repair for hybrids, with care around high-voltage systems.
A hybrid is still a car with an engine, brakes, suspension, and a cooling system, and most of its maintenance looks familiar: oil changes, tires, filters, brake fluid, and coolant. What is different is the high-voltage battery, inverter, and electric motor working alongside the gas engine.
- Oil changes and scheduled maintenance for hybrid engines
- Brake inspection and caliper service
- Engine and inverter coolant service where specified
- Cleaning or replacing the hybrid battery cooling filter
Common symptoms
- Hybrid system warning or check hybrid system message
- Engine running more often than it used to
- Drop in fuel economy
- Car will not go into Ready mode
- Battery cooling fan running loudly
Hybrids have their own maintenance points, like inverter coolant on many models, a battery cooling fan intake filter that can clog with pet hair and dust, and a small 12-volt battery that still has to be healthy for the car to start. Regenerative braking means pads often last a long time, but winter salt can still seize calipers and slide pins from lack of use.
High-voltage work is performed only when it can be done safely and appropriately for the specific vehicle. Before scheduling, we will confirm whether the repair your hybrid needs is something our shop can handle; if not, we will tell you plainly.
Every appointment is confirmed with a $100 booking/diagnostic payment (not credited toward repairs). If the cause isn’t known yet, the visit is used to diagnose it; the repair is quoted for your approval.
Repair labor is $100 per hour for every kind of repair — engine, transmission, electrical, heating and air conditioning, suspension, brakes and everything else. No higher specialty rate and no minimum labor charge. Labor hours are estimated for your specific vehicle and repair and shown on your written estimate before any work starts; we don’t sell flat-rate job prices.

Questions
Is there a fee to check a hybrid warning?
If the problem needs to be diagnosed, diagnostic services involve a $100 diagnostic fee, which is not credited toward the cost of subsequent repairs. Routine maintenance is simply quoted.
Can you replace a hybrid battery?
It depends on the vehicle and the situation. We will confirm before scheduling whether we can handle that specific repair safely and appropriately, or point you toward a better option.
Do hybrids need oil changes?
Yes. Most hybrids still have a gas engine that needs oil, often a low-viscosity synthetic. Follow your owner’s manual or maintenance reminder.
