Light-Duty Diesel Services

Maintenance and repair for diesel pickups, vans, and SUVs.

Diesel engines are built for torque and longevity, but they are less forgiving of skipped maintenance than gasoline engines. Clean fuel, the right oil, and fresh filters matter a great deal, and modern diesels add emissions equipment like diesel particulate filters (DPF), exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), and diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) systems.

Common symptoms

  • Hard starting or long cranking in cold weather
  • Excess black, white, or gray smoke
  • DPF, DEF, or emissions warning messages
  • Loss of power or reduced engine power mode
  • Water-in-fuel warning light

Cold weather is where diesel problems show up. Weak glow plugs or a failing grid heater can make starting hard on a frigid morning, and water in the fuel can freeze or cause rough running. Short trips can prevent the DPF from cleaning itself, leading to regeneration warnings.

We focus on light-duty diesel pickups, vans, and SUVs that fit our bay. Some major diesel work, like injector or turbo replacement on certain engines, may require specialty tools or programming; we will confirm before scheduling whether your specific job is a good fit.

Every appointment is confirmed with a $100 booking/diagnostic payment (not credited toward repairs). If the cause isn’t known yet, the visit is used to diagnose it; the repair is quoted for your approval.

Repair labor is $100 per hour for every kind of repair — engine, transmission, electrical, heating and air conditioning, suspension, brakes and everything else. No higher specialty rate and no minimum labor charge. Labor hours are estimated for your specific vehicle and repair and shown on your written estimate before any work starts; we don’t sell flat-rate job prices.

Questions

Is there a diagnostic fee for diesel problems?

Routine maintenance is quoted without one. When a performance or emissions problem needs to be diagnosed, diagnostic services involve a $100 diagnostic fee, which is not credited toward the cost of subsequent repairs.

Do you work on large commercial diesels?

No. We focus on light-duty diesel pickups, vans, and SUVs that fit our bay. Heavy trucks and equipment are better served by a heavy-duty shop.

Can you delete or modify emissions equipment?

No. Removing or tampering with emissions equipment is illegal. We diagnose and repair these systems so they work as designed.
